About Wellie tots

I’m Laura Parker and I’ve been a teacher for ten years, specialising in Maths.

Since having my two children I’ve become increasingly enthusiastic about giving them the opportunity to be outside and enjoy the wonders of nature – the small things we often walk past and take for granted day to day.

​

I believe that nature is the perfect vehicle for toddlers to start to learn about colours, shapes, numbers and letters. The increasing number of forest schools in nurseries and schools shows what an important part nature can play in education.

​

I also think that it’s never too soon to introduce young children to important themes like taking care of the environment we live in and understanding where food comes from.

So that’s what I formed Wellie tots to do: use my experience in teaching to provide a learning environment, based in the outside environment - with a bit of mud, mess and fun thrown in along the way!
